Professional ethics and practices
This content area focuses on the importance of ethical standards and integrity in the professional field.
In almost all of my Child and Family Studies courses, professional ethics and practices have been addressed. Honesty and integrity has remained a common theme throughout the curriculum as it applied to our current educational experience and our future professional experiences. My professors held us to the highest standards in regards to academic honesty. Other areas of ethics such as cultural ethics and ethical delimmas were also addressed. For example, in CFS 4067, the importance of respecting cultural differences was a common class discussion. The Kinesiology 2600 Human Sexuality course discussed the importance of respecting the varying sexuality beliefs among cultures. In another example, in CFS 4052 Family Law and Public Policy, classmates took part in a debate over the ethical issue of abortion.
