interpersonal relationships
The topic of interpersonal relationships is a core part of the Child and Family Studies curriculum. As a CFS student, I have learned about personality and communication styles and how to effectively use both of these tools to enhance and strengthen interpersonal relationships.
In CFS 4067, I had the privilege of reading Bonds that Make Us Free by C. Terry Warner. This book focused on many aspects of interpersonal relationships, especially regarding self-honesty and forgiveness.
In Dr. Chaney's CFS 4065 Family Life Education class, I had the opportunity to help facilitate a focus group with parents at Polk Elementary School. We discussed with parents the topic of "Bullying Within the School." The discussion included any personal experiences of bullying with their children, the consequences of bullying, signs that children are being bullied, what to do if your child is being bullied/is the bully, and so much more. As a group, my fellow students and I created an informational packet on bullying to give to the parents.
